Basically, you need to explicitly state which version to install and that means adding '-5.2.10-1.el5.remi' to the end of the package name. If you'd like to view what the repo offers execute through the shell: yum --enablerepo=remi list php* PS - for some reason WordPress is hiding the double dash in front of the enablerepo switch. It must be "yum --enablerepo=remi" and then the commands. I’ve updated the original post to make it easier to install PHP 5.2.
